DESCRIPTION:Following on from the successful first Cruising Group SUP outing (with very positive feedback)\, we are planning another one on next Tuesday 8th August at 6:30 p.m. in HYC. If you have ever wondered what SUPping is all about\, this is your chance to try it\, in the safe confines of the harbour. Our last group thought it was great fun and highly recommend Eoin Kernan (CG member) and Discover SUP. \nThe forecast for Tuesday is good. Starting at 6:30 p.m.\, the session runs until 8 p.m. and your €35 will get you tuition\, board and kit hire. DESCRIPTION:There is a social sail planned for Thursday\, 10 August (the week after next\, and weather permitting!) Heading out around 4pm for an hour or two\, then coming back in for supper or a sociable drink in the Club. We are hoping to have a mix of yachts and a couple of J80s….as always\, please let me know if you can offer a berth to a CG member\, or if you would like to join as crew (either on a CG yacht or on a J80). \nIt is Steak Night in the Club\, so do book in advance if you are thinking of eating there; €68 for two courses and a bottle of wine\, and an alternative fish course is always available (see the sample menu below!) DESCRIPTION:Armada to Red Rock has changed to Loughshinny or Lambay on SUNDAY. Departure at 11:00 a.m. \nA note from Susan Kavanagh: \nWhile we hunker down for today’s weather\, the good news is that Sunday looks much better\, with reasonable wind and sunshine! Admiral Gerry O’Neill is proposing that we set sail for Loughshinny or Lambay…..the final destination will depend on the latest forecast. Both places are picnic destinations and we will be anchoring\, except for a lucky few who can tie up to the pier in Loughshinny. \nTo add to the excitement\, the Laser Nationals are on this weekend in HYC so parking will be at a premium. Our departure time is 1100 from the marina but consider coming at least an hour earlier to give you time to find a space. \nAs usual\, please let me know if you are looking for a berth or if you have one to offer….. \nSailing in the sun……looking forward to it…… \nRegards\, \nsusan kavanagh \n18/8/23

DESCRIPTION:From Susan Kavanagh: \nHello all\, \nIt is proposed to run a First Aid course in HYC on Saturday 11 November. This will be given by RemoteMedic (see below flyer) who has done courses for us before and who specialises in First Aid for situations where an ambulance or medical help may not be readily available.\n\nThe cost is €130 for the day\, including a certificate valid for 2 years and an RORC First Aid textbook.\n\nPlease let me know if you are interested in this course. There is also the possibility of running a 2-day course (also before Christmas) so let me know if this is of interest on cruising@hyc.ie. The price (to be confirmed) will be around €250.\n\nDue to unavailability\, RemoteMedic cannot run courses after Christmas\n\nThank you\nFirst Aid at Sea

Please take photos and send me the best ones for our gallery! Please offer a berth for another CG member if you can. If you are looking for a berth\, please let me know.\n\nDon’t cut the corner as you approach the anchorage – give it all a wide berth to avoid hidden rocks…

Suggested meet time is 4pm to allow a couple of hours afloat before returning to the club to join the Steak Night there or simply to have a sociable coffee or drink.\n\nThe forecast is good\, HW is 1745\, just remember to book your place if you intend to dine that evening (and mention that you are part of the CG so that we can get tables together).
