Howth Yacht Club Cruising Group
Some description text for this item
The HYC Cruising Group is involved in almost everything to do with boats (even, occasionally, racing!) However, the word “cruising” is something of a misnomer for this Group, implying as it does that we only leap onto boats and vanish over the horizon. We do go cruising but also sail/motor, anchor in company, exchange cruising, technical and safety information, and enjoy ourselves afloat and ashore. And being a boat owner isn’t a requirement – you just need an interest in them!
The Cruising Group meets on the first Monday of each month in the Asgard Room of HYC and all are welcome. We arrange informative talks, social events, and sometimes training both theory and practical. During the main sailing season (May to September), the Group organises day cruises (“armadas”) to various anchorages and harbours around the coast, and sets off on longer cruises too; always with an aim of inclusion, safety, sociability and a good bite to eat. In the off-season, there are shorter trips, for lunch or an overnight stay or just a sail.
If you want to join the Cruising Group, just send an email to [email protected]. Previous sailing experience is not necessary, the only requirement is that you are a HYC member. If you have any questions or have information to share, please get in touch by email.
Welcome aboard!
