The Lambay Armada & Guest Speaker
The Cruising Group kicked off the summer season in style with a hugely successful armada to Lambay. The weather gods were on our side as 12 boats from HYC and NYC sailed to Lambay, anchored up for lunch, enjoyed some spectacular scenery and wildlife then sailed back to HYC. We enjoyed a summer barbeque and joined the racing classes to enjoy the beautiful evening together. Thank you to all involved, particularly to Admiral Gerry O'Neill and Aideen Sargent for organising another very successful armada.
Big shout out to Clifford Brown who sailed the armada to Lambay with crew Jeff Werner and Sabine Louet on board Rhapsody. Jeff Werner is visiting Ireland from the USA with his wife this summer and has an impressive CV across his sailing career. Jeff will join the next Cruising Group meeting on July 6th to give a talk and presentation on Celestial Navigation. HYC is thrilled to host an evening to learn about such an interesting topic. All are welcome to join, so come on down. Asgard Room with refreshments from 7pm and we kick off at 7:30pm.
Next up: The Firth of Clyde
There are 8 boats confirmed to cruise in company from HYC to the Firth of Clyde weekend of June 6th. We have a few musters planned in Bangor, East Loch Tarbert and Troon. Looking back on our last meeting
We had an excellent meet up in May as we invited General Manager Aideen Doran, Commodore Kevin Monks, Paul Phelan from the RNLI and fellow member Robert Hayes to join and share some excellent updates on club initiatives, topical issues related to the club, Sail Ireland and safety on the water. Thank you to all of you and we appreciate everything you do for us.
