Armada to the National Yacht Club

The annual armada to the National Yacht Club for brunch is a popular fixture in the Cruising Group calendar. This year, the weather threatened to disrupt plans, with 30-knot gusts in Dublin Bay. But seven confident boats sailed across regardless, while others went by DART.

Regardless of how we got there, we received the usual warm welcome from the NYC staff. A tasty breakfast was promptly served to the 60+ attendees and the morning developed into a very sociable occasion.

As the last crumbs were being mopped up, Admiral Gerry O'Neill thanked those involved on behalf of HYC. Aideen Doran, who swopped her manager's office to crew on Gerryatric, talked about the welcome she had received from Gerry in her early days in HYC, and how inclusive she found events like this to be.

All too soon, it was time to head back out to sail or DART home....and to look forward to our next armada to Lambay, on Saturday the 8th of July...
