Bob Fannin at HYC: A Night For “Making Waves”

A great talk from Bob Fannin on Tuesday 2nd April was perfectly timed to refresh and energise all attendees ahead of the new season.

Introduced by Peter Culleton, a former crewmate, Bob told a big HYC crowd about his sailing experiences - starting in dinghies in Clontarf, he then moved to transatlantic routes, trips to the Arctic with John Gore-Grimes, a warmer spell in the Caribbean and now local deliveries.

Especially enjoyable was his recounts of long-lasting sailing with Commander Bill King (of Galway Blazer fame) who taught him how to get the best out of a crew, among other things that built up his expertise and personality.
