Celebrating shared Cruising interests: HYC and NYC rally at Lambay Island

The recent armada at Lambay Island was more than just a gathering of HYC and NYC boats; it was a celebration of the vibrant cruising community that thrives around Dublin Bay. This event, marked by perfect sailing conditions and a stunning natural backdrop, underlined the spirit of adventure and camaraderie that defines these groups. The sight of 33 boats sailing together, their sails catching the sunlight, was hopefully a good omen for future cooperative outings.

Beyond the picturesque scenes that Lambay Island offers to those who approach its coves and the thrill of the journey on a splendid Irish summer day, the rally marked the first coming-together of the new National Yacht Club Cruising Group with long-established HYC Cruising Group. The occasion, bringing together seasoned sailors and newcomers alike, will hopefully be the first of many such co-operations with sister Cruising Groups in Ireland.

Read here the article that Afloat.ie dedicates to a day that celebrated not only the beauty of sailing, but also the strong bonds that unite the cruising community.
