Cruising Group Goes Global
This summer, HYC’s Cruising Group has truly gone global — with members sharing stories, photos, and sailing tales from adventures near and far. From the scenic shores of Crosshaven and Derrynane to Cape Clear, Sanda, the Mull of Kintyre, and even the iconic Kiel Canal, our cruising community continues to explore far and wide. Keep those updates coming — we love seeing where your journeys take you! Featured image from Derrynane.
A Birthday Armada to Remember — Happy 80th, Regina
Warmest birthday wishes to Regina Martin, who celebrated her 80th in true cruising style. Regina and her fellow HYC sailors arrived in Youghal aboard Karma, where they were greeted by friends, family, and plenty of music. The harbour celebration was a fitting tribute to a much-loved member of our community.

Behind the Scenes: Dublin Port Tour
Several members of the Cruising Group recently took part in a fascinating behind-the-scenes bus tour of Dublin Port. From its Viking origins to the work of the Ballast Board in 1876 and the construction of the North and Bull Walls, the tour offered a captivating look at the port’s rich history and its modern-day operations. A real eye-opener and a reminder of the vital role Dublin Port plays in our maritime story.

Armadas on the Move
It’s been a busy month of flotilla fun! After a fantastic outing to Skerries, our cruisers formed armadas to Lambay and to Dun Laoghaire, where we enjoyed our annual brunch at the National Yacht Club. It was a pleasure to be hosted by the NYC — and we’ve extended a warm invitation for a return sail to Lambay, followed by a BBQ back at HYC on August 16th. Mark your calendars!

Gibney Classic — Boats Dressed to Impress
This year’s Gibney Classic was a record-breaker — with more boats, more colour, and more celebration than ever before. The estuary was alive with festively adorned boats making their way past Malahide Yacht Club and into the marina.

Best Dressed Boat Winners:
Pip – 1st Place
Thira – 2nd Place
Allegro – 3rd Place
A huge thank you to Gibney’s for their generous sponsorship and warm hospitality, and to all the organisers and participants who made the day such a success. It was a sight to behold — and a reminder of just how special our cruising community is.
