Never Miss a Winter Night Sailing Adventure

Last Friday, ten audacious members of the Cruising Group set sail for a winter night adventure. With a mild evening forecast, we departed HYC marina after sunset and navigated around Howth Head towards the twinkling lights of Dublin Bay.

Battling a big Spring tide, we had plenty of time to spot navigational marks (though no ships this time). Tea, coffee and sticky cakes kept everyone happy and the return journey was a thrilling sleigh-ride home with the tide in our favour.

As a special treat, a big full moon occasionally peeked through, lighting up the scene beautifully, as shown in this photo by Gerry Blacoe.
