On Saturday 13th July, Gerry O'Neill led his armada of 15 yachts out of Howth, heading towards Skerries. Sun shining, flat water - it was shaping up for a lovely day. Tea and biscuits on the way, we arrived into Skerries to pick up a mooring and be brought ashore in the SSC launches.
Nobody strayed far from the SSC's hospitality. After a reviving drink and sandwiches, everyone tucked into the Salty Buoy's delicious fish - from lobster rolls to spice bags. Gerry O'Neill thanked Vice Commodore Colm Collins and his wife Catherine (previous Commodore of SSC) for their welcome, while revisiting his early sailing life in Skerries.....
All good things must come to an end....with promises to host a return visit in Howth, we set off home - to find that the wind had gone southerly and we had to motor all the way. But it didn't spoil what was a great day out!
