HYC and RNLI “Lifevest-On” Workshop raises awareness on key safety messages

Howth RNLI Water Safety Team were delighted to deliver a talk and workshop evening at Howth Yacht Club on Tuesday, 12 March.

The event was organised by Eoin Kernan, a club member and one of Howth RNLI's Water Safety Advisors, supported by Rose Michael and Paul Phelan.

Opening the night, a talk was delivered covering key safety messages about sailing and motorboating safely, lifejackets, calling for help, floating to live, and cold water shock. You can find the slideshow here: RNLI Sailing and Motorboating Safely - workshop presentation

Once the talk was completed, attendees split up into workshop areas where they could enjoy hands-on learning covering checking lifejackets, means of calling for help, and the proper use of throw bags.

The event was a huge success, with lots of great engagement from attendees.

The Howth RNLI water safety team would like to thank Howth Yacht Club for hosting the event and Ian O’Meara from Viking Marine for showcasing the latest safety equipment and clothing.
