On a sunny Saturday morning, the Cruising Season Opener Breakfast saw 102 Cruising Group members and friends ready to celebrate the start of the new season.
Friendship came first as regular attendees and the flotilla crews departing for Greece next month warmly welcomed newer HYC members.
Then, very quickly, everyone settled down to a tasty breakfast, amiably served by Marius and his team, accompanied by sociable chat around the lively tables.
The community atmosphere went even further when the winning tickets of the RNLI raffle were announced and generosity was rewarded both for ticket holders and the RNLI, with €1135 raised.
Finally, competition took centre stage at the annual Line-Heaving Championships run by Gary McGuire and won by Tom Fitzpatrick in the Men's category and Orla Clancy in the Women's category.
Hours later, many of the attendees were still ordering fresh coffees and the chat continued till the evening set....
A great start to the season and, hopefully, the sunshine was a good omen!
